Areas of practice
Peter is a highly experienced barrister with extensive
experience in litigation, including international arbitration and
mediation, and in giving transactional advice and support. He is
instructed regularly in international arbitrations, as well as appearing
in the courts both in England and abroad. His practice covers all
aspects of business law including company/commercial, accountancy
and cross-border audits, insolvency and creditors rights, securities
and securitizations, property and liability insurance, partnership,
money laundering, financial services and related subjects. He is
frequently involved in energy, telecommunications and broadcasting
cases with an international or cross border focus involving international
tribunals and foreign courts. He is a qualified mediator and sits
as an arbitrator.

Arbitration
Peter’s arbitration experience is extensive. He has represented
numerous clients, including:
- a party to an oil production dispute
- a major investor in satellite broadcasting venture in the Far
East valued at US$366 million in a claim for US$50 million
- a South American government and its commercial affiliates in
lengthy and complex proceedings raising issues of jurisdiction,
sovereign immunity, foreign bankruptcy and sale of foreign assets
including ships
- investors in shareholder and secured creditor dispute regarding
pledge of the shares of a Bulgarian refinery raising issues of
fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, and security/international escrow
interests
- a major investor in dispute concerning oil concessions in the
Middle East
- parties to a partnership dispute between English solicitors
- parties to a complex series of disputes involving inter alia
corporate fraud, securities and transfer of funds between companies
organised under the laws of England and the Isle of Man
- owners of property concerning compensation arising from the
division of Cyprus (1985-1992)
Peter has acted as an expert on English Law in international arbitrations.
He has also been appointed as an arbitrator to the electricity industry
by the Lord Chancellor.
