Chambers believes in the importance of meeting the needs of the client, whether the requirement is for a rapid turn-around on advice or documentation, to take a hearing at short notice, or to provide sophisticated advice in response to complex problems. A member of our clerking team is always available outside office hours if a client urgently needs to instruct a barrister.

We welcome instructions from solicitors, in-house law departments, qualified foreign lawyers, and clients licensed by the Bar Council to give instructions directly to barristers under the Bar Council’s Licensed Access Scheme. Barristers may also accept instructions directly from clients in foreign jurisdictions, except if the work relates to proceedings in a UK court or tribunal.

Some members of Thirteen Old Square are also qualified to accept instructions directly from UK clients and/or in relation to UK proceedings in appropriate cases. For details, please contact the clerks.

Instructing Junior Members of Chambers

We consider that our junior members provide high quality advice and advocacy whilst being cost-effective. They are always thorough in their preparation and conscientious in meeting deadlines. We believe that, taking into account the quality of service provided and the cost to the client, they compare favourably to any of their competitors.
