Areas of practice
Giles is essentially a commercial litigator and is noted
in Chambers and Partners as a leader in his field. He has appeared
at all levels up to and including the Court of Appeal.
Although rooted in Chancery, his practice has a particular emphasis
on contentious insolvency and company work, professional negligence
and banking litigation.
Contentious insolvency and company work includes: disqualification
for the DTI disqualification unit and occasionally for the director;
preference, misfeasance and other work for liquidators and other
office holders including company administrations, corporate and
individual voluntary arrangements and receivership problems; shareholders
disputes; and individual bankruptcy work.
Professional negligence work is presently predominantly claimant
orientated with occasional work for solicitors, surveyors and accountants.
Banking comprises litigation for several of the leading clearing
and high street banks.
