Born in Shropshire and educated at Cardiff High School and Balliol College, Oxford (where he read Modern History), Edward Bartley Jones was called to the Bar in 1975. He took Silk in 1997 and became a Bencher of Lincoln’s Inn in 2007.
Areas of practice
His practice encompasses all areas of Commercial and Chancery law (including Insolvency). He also has extensive experience of Human Rights, Judicial Review, Professional Negligence, Social Housing and Insurance claims. He has been consistently recommended by Chambers and Partners’ Directory as a Leader in his field.
Appointments
He has been a Deputy High Court Judge since 2002. Before that he was an Assistant Recorder and then a Recorder.
He is a former Chairman of the Northern Chancery Bar Association and a member of the Complaints Committee of the Bar Standards Board. From 1977 to 1981 he was a (part time) lecturer in Law at Liverpool University.
