Areas of practice
Alexander’s practice embraces all aspects of chancery and commercial law. In particular, his work covers intellectual property, commercial and consumer contractual disputes and banking.
Before coming to the Bar, Alexander was a researcher in materials science. This interest has continued into his legal practice, where he has been involved in several cases involving highly technical subject matter.
Recently, Alexander has completed an L.L.M. in intellectual property at Queen Mary, University of London.
Recent work
Alexander has been advising, preparing court documents and appearing in both the County Court and the High Court.
Examples include:
- Patent validity and infringement;
- EPO oral examination and opposition proceedings;
- EPO restitution proceedings; Infringement of copyright;
- Junior counsel in Cembrit Blunn Ltd and another v Apex Roofing Services LLP and another [2007] EWHC 111: issues of intellectual property (Breach of confidence; Confidence; Confidential information; Copyright; Justification and construction law (Defective goods; Satisfactory quality);
- Building disputes on behalf of both contractors and employers; Consumer credit disputes;
- Acting for a major high street bank;
Contributor to AIPPI group: Limitations to the scope of trademark protection
As a private pilot, he also has an active interest in aviation law and regulation.
